Decoding Reel Specs

• Size (e.g., 4000): The physical size of the reel body. A higher number means a larger frame and more line capacity.
• Gear Ratio (e.g., 3.5:1): Retrieval speed. The first number(3.5) shows how many times the spool spins per single turn of the handle.(3.5:1 slow and 5.5:1 being faster).
• Max Drag: The maximum pulling tension (in pounds or kilograms) the reel can handle before letting the line slip.
• Bearings: The internal rollers. A higher count of quality bearings creates a completely fluid, friction-free rotation(2 less smooth 6+ being smooth).
